69% of enterprises choose OpenAI's agent platform as primary tool

OpenAI’s agent platform is the clear favorite for enterprises that want a single, primary orchestration tool, with 69 % of companies that have installed the SDK or Responses API declaring it their main platform. By contrast, only 38 % of firms that use Anthropic’s Claude Platform and Agent Skills have made it their primary choice, according to data released by VentureBeat’s Pulse survey in August.

The trend reflects a broader shift in the industry toward more integrated, end‑to‑end solutions that can be easily embedded into existing workflows. OpenAI’s platform offers a unified interface for building, testing, and deploying agents, and its extensive developer community has helped lower the learning curve. Anthropic’s offering, while powerful, still requires more configuration and is less widely adopted across corporate stacks.

In the survey, 75 enterprises reported using OpenAI’s tools, and 52 of those identified it as their primary orchestration system. For Anthropic, 45 companies used the Claude platform, but only 17 of them made it the main hub for agent development. Enterprises that use both platforms are counted in each group, underscoring that many firms are experimenting with multiple vendors before settling on one.

The findings suggest that OpenAI’s agent ecosystem is gaining traction as a go‑to solution for large organisations, while Anthropic remains a secondary option for many. As the market matures, vendors may need to improve integration and support to capture a larger share of the primary platform market. For companies deciding between the two, the data indicates that OpenAI’s platform is currently the safer bet for a single, reliable agent framework.
