The DP World Tour has this week off ahead of the U.S. Open . So it's as good a time as any for a trip down memory lane and the time that a tournament leader almost missed his tee time for the craziest reason.
Jeff Winther, a Danish pro, was in search of his first DP World Tour win at the 2021 Mallorca Open. Through three rounds that year, Winther was 15 under and leading in Spain.
The morning of the final round, though, proved to be, shall we say, interesting. Winther tells the story of locking himself (and his wife) in the bathroom with their 6- and 2-year-olds out in the living room.
Winther managed an even-par final round and won by a stroke. It remains his lone DP World Tour win. It also remains perhaps his wildest off-course story. We appreciate the DPWT for reminding us of this hilarious moment.
