AI startup Hark has launched its first product, Handoff, a "computer use agent" designed to perform various online tasks on behalf of users. The announcement came today from the company, which was founded earlier this year by Brett Adcock, a serial entrepreneur and roboticist. Handoff can autonomously navigate the web to order food, book flights, and communicate with job candidates, all without user intervention. Public sign-ups for the service are now open on Hark's website, with the software expected to be available later this month.

The launch of Handoff comes at a time when demand for AI tools that simplify online interactions is surging. As more people turn to digital solutions for everyday tasks, Hark aims to position itself as a leader in the competitive AI landscape. The company's technology promises to streamline processes that typically take up valuable time, allowing users to delegate tasks they would otherwise handle themselves.

Handoff has received notable recognition for its performance, achieving a record score of 97.7 on the Online-Mind2Web (OM2W) benchmark, which evaluates web agents based on human assessments. This score surpasses those of established competitors, including OpenAI's GPT 5.4, which scored 92.8, and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8 at 84.1. Additionally, Hark claims that Handoff operates at a significantly lower cost, charging just $0.18 per million input tokens compared to $2.37 for other leading models. This pricing strategy could make advanced AI technology more accessible to a broader audience.

Looking ahead, Hark's innovative approach could reshape how users interact with digital services. By providing an affordable and efficient solution, Handoff may attract a sizable user base eager for assistance in managing their online activities. The success of this product could pave the way for further developments in AI technology, encouraging other startups to innovate in the space.
