Will the New England Patriots be acquiring wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this week?

If so -- or if New England lands Brown at some point this offseason -- they'd be joining very exclusive company.

"If the Patriots acquire Brown, who turns 29 on June 30, they would become the second team in NFL history to play in a Super Bowl and then trade for a player who had 1,000-plus receiving yards the prior season," Reiss wrote. "The only prior instance was the 2017 Patriots, who traded for Brandin Cooks (1,173 receiving yards in 2016 with the Saints ) after winning Super Bowl LI."

During the 2025 season, Stefon Diggs became the first New England player to record at least 1,000 receiving yards in a campaign since Julian Edelman in 2019.

Brown has posted four straight 1,000-yard seasons and six in his seven years in the NFL.
