Back in June, the developer behind Fermata Xtream, one of the most popular ways to watch live TV on Android Auto, announced that the app was going offline. While the free version of the app remained available on Github, the developer said at the time that they were calling it quits. Fast forward a couple of months, a new version of Fermata Xtream is rolling out.

According to the developer , they spent the last few months attempting to rewrite Fermata Xtreamโ€™s code to improve performance. However, they stopped once they realized it wasnโ€™t possible with the existing code. This appears to be why the developer decided to walk away.

Fortunately for fans of the app, this led the developer to rewrite the whole codebase to optimize for speed and performance. Now, a new version of Fermata Xtream that features 100% new code is available. The developer adds that they tried to keep the UI mostly the same as before.

As for what this means for you, the developer outlines the changes. First, this acts as an announcement for Fermata Xtream v1.0.0. They say that the package name is the same, so the transition should be as easy as installing an update. The developer adds that the license is also valid for donors of previous versions.

Secondly, apps will now auto-update when a new release is pushed to Github. However, this will only be the case for apps installed with AAenabler. It appears that auto-update doesnโ€™t work when installed through the Play Store link. They advise to โ€œdisable it from the settings, or leave it enabled but donโ€™t proceed with installation, just to know when to receive a new link.โ€

The third and final change concerns the GitHub repository, which the developer says they had to split into individual repositories. There are now repositories for the free version , the premium version , and one for the AAenabler with Shizuku support . Additionally, they also included the new builds on the Fermata website .
