Gemini in Chrome is already available for desktop users , and Google is now bringing the experience to Android users across the US. On your phone, it essentially gives Chrome its own built-in AI assistant that can understand the page youโ€™re looking at and help you do more with it.

For example, if you open a long article and only care about the main points, Gemini can summarize it for you. You can also ask questions about the page, pull in information from Google apps like Calendar and Keep without constantly switching around, and even use Nano Banana to generate or tweak images while you browse.

Mobile browsing can get messy quickly once youโ€™re juggling several tabs, copying information between apps, or trying to remember where you saw something five minutes ago. Having Gemini right there in Chrome could cut out a surprising amount of that back-and-forth.

Google is giving AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US an even more capable experience, though. They also get access to Auto Browse , which lets Gemini actually work through multi-step tasks on the web for you.

Say youโ€™re planning a quick weekend trip. Instead of manually opening hotel listings, comparing prices, checking availability, and moving through several booking pages, you could ask Gemini to help handle much of that process. It can also compare products youโ€™re thinking about buying, look around for better deals, make restaurant reservations, schedule appointments, or help with travel bookings.

And on Android, that is a big deal. Filling out forms, jumping between tabs, and repeatedly tapping through mobile websites isnโ€™t exactly anyoneโ€™s favorite job to do. If Gemini can reliably take some of that busywork off your plate, it becomes much easier to see why youโ€™d actually want an AI assistant living inside your browser.

Of course, giving an AI permission to navigate websites on your behalf also raises some obvious security concerns. Google says Gemini is designed to recognize known threats such as prompt-injection attacks , where malicious instructions hidden on a webpage attempt to influence the assistant. Auto Browse will also ask for your approval before completing certain sensitive actions, rather than simply charging ahead on its own.
