After the game, Rodriguez gave a promising update to reporters. He said he has been dealing with back tightness but the injury is not anything too concerning. Rodriguez said it will have the be monitored over the next few days.
“Not too concerning right now. I mean obviously I’m concerned because I came out of the game for it, but it’s just going to be something that we’re going to have to manage over the next couple days to be able to get back out there,” Rodriguez said, per SoCal News Group’s Jeff Fletcher .
If he does not miss any time due to the back injury, Rodriguez’s next start is expected to be on June 24 against his former team, the Baltimore Orioles.
Rodriguez made his Angels debut a month ago on May 17 against the Los Angeles Dodgers .
After the Angels acquired the right-hander for outfielder Taylor Ward in a trade with the Orioles, Rodriguez started the season on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. He missed all of the 2025 season and had bone spurs removed from his right elbow in August.
Rodriguez said exiting Sunday’s game with back tightness was frustrating after his long battle with injuries.
