Apple will stream four Friday Night Baseball games in immersive video for the Apple Vision Pro, beginning this Friday.

This marks Appleโ€™s latest push to position the Vision Pro not just as a productivity device but as an entertainment hub. The tech giant has spent years building out its spatial computing platform, and live sports are a key test for whether people will pay premium prices to watch events in 3D. Apple previously struck multi-year deals with Major League Baseball to bring games to its platforms, including Apple TV+, and now itโ€™s adding the Vision Pro to that lineup. The move comes as tech companies race to make virtual reality and augmented reality mainstream, with Meta, Google, and others also investing heavily in immersive viewing.

The games will be available in Apple Immersive Video, a format that uses the Vision Proโ€™s dual 4K displays to create a 180-degree, 3D experience. Fans will feel as if theyโ€™re sitting in the front row, with spatial audio enhancing the immersion. Apple hasnโ€™t disclosed how many users are expected to tune in, but the company has hinted that live sports could be a major driver for Vision Pro sales. The first game airs Friday night between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers, followed by three more Fridays in May.

If successful, Apple could expand the offering to more sports, concerts, or even its own exclusive live events. The Vision Proโ€™s high price tag has limited its appeal so far, but Apple is betting that unique experiences like immersive sports will justify the cost. Analysts say the strategy mirrors how Apple once pushed the iPod by selling both the device and exclusive music content. Success here could reshape how people consume live eventsโ€”and whether theyโ€™re willing to strap on a $3,500 headset to do it.
