Apple will begin streaming Major League Baseball’s Friday Night Baseball live in immersive video on the Apple Vision Pro starting August 28.

This marks the first time a major U.S. sports league will be broadcast in spatial video on a high-profile headset, tying Apple’s push to position Vision Pro as a premium entertainment device. The move follows years of tech companies testing immersive sports viewing, but Apple’s entry signals mainstream viability. MLB, eager to court younger, tech-savvy fans, sees this as a way to differentiate its broadcasts and attract new audiences through innovative formats.

During the games, viewers will see commentators and live graphics anchored around their physical space, creating a more immersive experience than traditional flat screens. After each game, full replays will be available in the Apple TV app, including spatial video versions for Vision Pro users. Apple has partnered with MLB to produce the streams, using its own spatial video capture technology. The games will also remain available in standard 2D on Apple TV and other platforms.

This partnership could set a template for how live sports are consumed in mixed-reality environments. If successful, other leagues like the NBA or NFL may follow with their own Vision Pro streams. For Apple, it’s another step toward making Vision Pro a must-have device for media consumption. Fans will get a new way to watch games, but it also raises questions about accessibility and cost—Vision Pro retails for $3,500, limiting early adoption. Still, for those who can afford it, Friday Night Baseball in Vision Pro promises a first glimpse at the future of immersive sports viewing.
