Edward F. Callahan, Badger Meter’s vice president of engineering, bought 751 shares of the company’s stock on July 30, 2026, for $101,573. The purchase was made at $135.25 per share, above the day’s closing price of $130.39, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The move comes as Badger Meter’s stock has fallen 26% over the past year, under pressure from delays on major new projects. Callahan’s purchase increases his direct holdings to 1,937 shares, a 63% jump. Insider buying at a lower price point often draws attention because executives typically have the clearest view of a company’s prospects. Badger Meter, a Milwaukee-based maker of flow measurement and control equipment, serves water utilities and industrial customers worldwide. Its market value stands at about $3.8 billion.

Badger Meter’s products help modernize aging water and sewer infrastructure, a market expected to grow as governments tighten regulations and invest in efficiency. The company reported $881 million in revenue over the last 12 months, with net income of $125.7 million. Yet investor confidence has slipped amid project delays, pushing its price-to-free-cash-flow ratio down to 27 times. That valuation looks more attractive compared with earlier levels, even if sales growth has been uneven.

What matters next is whether Badger Meter can deliver on its promises and restore momentum. If Callahan’s purchase signals confidence, it may reassure others that the stock is undervalued. But until sales improve and projects get back on track, the company’s near-term outlook remains uncertain. Investors will watch the next earnings report closely, hoping to see signs that the slowdown is temporary rather than a long-term trend.
