Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) opened at $63,078.89, down 0.3% from yesterdayโ€™s opening price. The price of bitcoin fell in early trading to $62,542.70 at 7:27 a.m. ET.

Ethereum ( ETH-USD ) opened at $1,689.88, up 0.2% from yesterday's open. The price of ethereum fell in early trading, moving to $1,667.69 at 7:30 a.m. ET.

After steady declines last week, bitcoin and ethereum prices have found some footing to start this week and could begin to break out of a value slump that took bitcoin prices below $60,000 on Friday.

One of the key attributes of cryptocurrencies is that they provide investors with an alternative option, no matter what seems to be happening in the marketplace. We saw after the war in Iran began how some investors took to crypto as a safe-haven alternative, and now analysts believe crypto could provide a dose of diversification in our current AI-dominated market.

The price of bitcoin was down 0.3% this morning from Monday's open. Here's a look at how the opening bitcoin price has changed versus last week, month, and year:

The all-time high for bitcoin was $128,198.07 on Oct. 6, 2025. The all-time low value for bitcoin was $0.04865 on July 14, 2010.
