Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) is riding a wave of increased defense demand amid growing geopolitical tensions. As of August 4, 2026, the company's shares closed at $589.33, marking an impressive 35.52% rise over the past year. This surge is largely driven by heightened military needs as conflicts in Europe persist and the United States pushes NATO allies to bolster their defense capabilities.

Emerald Wealth Partners, an asset management firm based in Zurich, recently highlighted Lockheed Martin in its Q2 2026 investor letter. The firm noted that while demand for Lockheed's systems has sharply increased, the company's business model is evolving. It now requires heavier investments and carries additional risks compared to previous years. Despite these challenges, the firm maintains a positive outlook on the defense contractor, emphasizing that the current geopolitical climate continues to favor its growth.

In the first quarter, Lockheed Martin's stock thrived, but a subsequent ceasefire in conflict zones led to a minor pullback, costing the company some of its gains. Emerald Wealth Partners indicated that they had reduced their holdings in Lockheed Martin close to its peak in the first quarter, but they remain confident in their current position. The firm also noted that Lockheed Martin is not among the 40 most popular stocks among hedge funds. However, interest in the company appears to be growing, with 83 hedge fund portfolios holding its shares by the end of the first quarter, up from 59 in the previous quarter.

Looking forward, Lockheed Martin's ability to adapt to an evolving defense landscape will be crucial. As global tensions escalate, the demand for advanced military technology is expected to remain high. Analysts will be watching closely to see if the company can capitalize on this demand while managing the risks associated with heavier investments in its operations.
