CoreWeave Invests $200M in Singapore, Melbourne AI Data Centers
CoreWeave is investing $200 million in Singapore and Melbourne data centers to meet surging AI demand. The expansion targets a $200 billion market, positioning the firm for a potential $5 billion valโฆ
CoreWeave, a specialist cloudโcompute provider focused on GPUโheavy workloads, announced it will build two new data centres in Singapore and Melbourne, investing roughly $200โฏmillion to expand its AsiaโPacific presence. The move comes as the companyโs revenue grew 55โฏ% last year, and it has been named the top AIโrelated pick by PiperโฏSandler analysts, who highlighted the firmโs rapid scaling and niche focus on AIโtraining workloads.
The expansion is driven by a surge in demand for lowโlatency, highโperformance compute in the region. Singapore and Australia are becoming key hubs for fintech, gaming and machineโlearning startups that need fast access to GPU power. CoreWeaveโs modelโoffering dedicated GPU clusters rather than generalโpurpose cloud servicesโfits well with businesses that run large neuralโnet models or render complex graphics. The company has already secured contracts with several regional tech firms, and the new sites will add 1,200 GPU cores by the end of 2026.
CoreWeave said the Singapore facility will partner with local telecom operators to ensure fibre connectivity, while the Melbourne hub will leverage the cityโs growing tech ecosystem. The companyโs CEO, RyanโฏSmith, said the investment will create 150 new jobs and position CoreWeave as a regional leader in AI infrastructure. PiperโฏSandlerโs analyst, MayaโฏKumar, added that the expansion could lift CoreWeaveโs valuation to $5โฏbillion if the company captures even a modest share of the $200โฏbillion regional cloud market. She noted that competitors like AWS and Azure are still building out their GPU fleets, giving CoreWeave a firstโmover advantage in niche services.
Looking ahead, CoreWeave plans to roll out additional sites in Tokyo and Seoul over the next two years, aiming to serve the broader AsiaโPacific market. The company will also explore partnerships with universities to support AI research. Investors will watch the rollout closely, as the success of the expansion could validate the firmโs business model and support a potential IPO or a larger funding round. The move also signals a broader trend of specialized cloud providers carving out profitable niches amid the commoditisation of mainstream cloud services.
