De'Aaron Fox became the NBA world's punching bag after Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs guard had a horrific second half, headlined by taking an early layup attempt in the clutch when he could have just wasted time.

He has received a lot of passionate reactions on social media because he was the primary reason behind the New York Knicks taking a commanding 3-1 lead. Despite that, Fox seems to be unbothered by the vitriol.

Before the 2025-26 season started, most NBA fans thought the Spurs would do better than before. However, they did not expect them to suddenly rise to the top of the Western Conference and reach the NBA Finals.

Fox has been instrumental in that, as he is the secondary star to Victor Wembanyama . He has done well as the veteran guard who can also have standout games quite often. Unfortunately for Fox, the goodwill he had built was destroyed when he made that Game 4 blunder.

As a veteran professional, Fox has learned how to deal with the vitriol from the fans. Game 4 was another level of reactions, but it seems he is taking it in stride despite the harsh criticism he has received.

"It's not like people have my phone number and can call me. I don't watch those shows. It doesn't matter. It is what it is. You can't change it now. We're trying to move on from that," Fox said about the reactions to his mistake in Game 4 .
