Divinity Atlas, a free online encyclopedia of world religions, launched on Tuesday in Chicago, offering a new platform that lets users examine its own claims. The site is built as an interactive wiki, where each entry is written by scholars and reviewed by peers. It is available to anyone with internet access and costs nothing to use. The launch marks the first public release of the projectโs beta version, which includes over 250 entries covering major faiths, sects, and spiritual movements.
The launch comes amid growing concerns about misinformation about religion online. The internet hosts a mix of scholarly articles, blogs, and fan pages, many of which are biased or incomplete.
