The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with several issues keeping their starting rotation healthy through the first two months of the season. Most notably, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell have both missed significant time due to injuries.

Snell is currently recovering from elbow surgery. In Glasnow’s case, he appears to have encountered an unfortunate setback.

“ Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday, another sign that his balky back is hindering his rehab progression. The 32-year-old right-hander has been out since May 8, two days after a back spasm surfaced. Initially, the team expected him to miss a short period of time. Instead, Glasnow was shut down and manager Dave Roberts said the pitcher still hasn't been cleared to resume a throwing program,” ESPN wrote.

The Dodgers are expected to be aggressive at the trade deadline in search of additional starting pitching. ESPN’s Buster Olney believes Los Angeles will be a serious contender in the Tarik Skubal sweepstakes.

“If they fall out [of the American League race] then you would imagine teams like the Dodgers, the Padres, the Phillies , will be having conversations with the Tigers,” Olney said.

Skubal is returning from elbow surgery—the same type of procedure Snell recently underwent. Skubal made his first rehab appearance and looked dominant, showing that he has returned to form despite the injury.

“Tarik Skubal underwent elbow surgery May 6. One month and one day later, he threw five scoreless innings on 54 pitches and punched out six at High-A. Maybe Skubal is just that guy, but if nanoscope technology halves the return time from bone-chip injuries, what an advancement,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan posted.
