Mick Gordon, the composer who turned the 2016 Doom reboot into a cultural touchstone, has confirmed a twoโ€‘year global tour that will bring the gameโ€™s soundtrack to concert halls. The tour will kick off at Manchesterโ€™s RADAR Festival from July 30 to August 1, 2027, where Gordon will perform the score live for the first time with a full band, an orchestra, and his custom Doom Machine instrument. The announcement follows his recent headline spot at the festival, marking the first time the music will be played on stage rather than in a recording studio.

The decision comes as the gaming and music worlds increasingly overlap. Doomโ€™s soundtrack, known for its aggressive riffs and driving percussion, has become one of the most recognizable pieces of videoโ€‘game music. By turning the score into a live show, Gordon is tapping into a growing appetite for immersive audioโ€‘visual experiences that blur the line between concert and gameplay. The move also positions him alongside other gameโ€‘music pioneers who have turned their compositions into touring acts, a trend that has gained momentum since the early 2000s.

Gordonโ€™s schedule is already shaping up. After RADAR, he will play the Czech Republicโ€™s Brutal Assault Festival in August, sharing the stage with metal acts Knocked Loose and Children Of Bodom. In an interview with IGN, he said the tour will cover the Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal soundtracks, with plans to visit a โ€œnumber of events across the whole world.โ€ He explained that the musicโ€™s visceral, inโ€‘yourโ€‘face style relies on hardโ€‘hitting drums to keep the gameโ€™s frantic pace alive on stage. โ€œThe drums hit just as hard as the Doom Marine,โ€ he said, adding that the groove is essential to matching the onโ€‘screen action. The tour will be a fullโ€‘scale production, not a DJ set or tribute, and will feature the original composer performing the score as it was written.

If the tour succeeds, it could open doors for other game composers to bring their work to live audiences. The collaboration between gaming, metal, and classical music already shows that there is a market for highโ€‘energy, narrativeโ€‘driven performances. As Gordonโ€™s agency works out the details, fans can expect more dates to be announced in the coming months, potentially turning the Doom soundtrack into a staple of the festival circuit and a new benchmark for how videoโ€‘game music is experienced outside the screen.
