Drake has landed on Karol G’s new album, dropping a surprise feature on the track “Mi Ex.” The Canadian superstar joins the reggaeton star on a song that blends reggaeton beats with his signature rap flow—a pairing that spotlights Drake’s growing comfort in Latin music.

This isn’t the first time Drake has ventured into Spanish-language sounds. For over a decade, he’s dipped into Latin rhythms, starting with his 2010 mixtape *Thank Me Later*, which included the track “Best I Ever Had (Remix)” featuring a snippet of reggaeton. But it was his 2017 single “Despacito (Remix)” with Luis Fonsi and Justin Bieber that broke him into the Latin mainstream. The remix topped charts worldwide and became one of the most-streamed songs in history, proving Drake’s crossover appeal in the genre.

His collaboration with Karol G follows a string of high-profile Latin features, including work with Bad Bunny on “Mia” (2018) and Anuel AA on “China” (2019). These tracks didn’t just boost his Latin fanbase—they also earned him critical praise for adapting to different flows and cultural rhythms. Latin music now accounts for a significant portion of his streaming numbers, especially in markets like the U.S., Spain, and Latin America.

Drake’s continued presence in Latin music reflects a broader shift in global pop culture, where genre boundaries are dissolving. The collaboration with Karol G—one of the biggest reggaeton stars today—could introduce him to even wider Latin audiences. With reggaeton and Latin trap dominating streaming, Drake’s involvement signals that the crossover isn’t just a trend—it’s a lasting lane in his career.
