Duolingo has made a change or two lately that rubbed some users up the wrong way, but the app does occasionally make tweaks that are hard to argue with. That looks like it might be happening as we speak, with the app reportedly rolling out an Undo button for when you accidentally tell it that you canโt do a speaking exercise.
The change was spotted by a user on Reddit , who shared a screenshot showing the new Undo option appearing after tapping the button to skip speaking exercises. Others in the thread were quick to welcome it, with some saying theyโve also accidentally skipped speaking practice in the past.
Iโve done exactly the same thing myself, and itโs more annoying than it sounds. Speaking exercises are some of the easiest in Duolingo in my experience, since youโre merely repeating the phrase youโve just heard. Accidentally dismissing them can make that practice session a little trickier, as the skip button pauses the exercise for 15 minutes.
One commenter in the Reddit thread said theyโd already used the new Undo button after tapping the skip option by mistake. However, another noted that there doesnโt appear to be a similar undo option when you tell Duolingo that you canโt listen right now. It might be that Duolingo wants to gauge how the change is received by users before adding it to listening exercises.
The feature doesnโt appear to be available to everyone at the time of writing. Iโm not seeing the change yet, and at least a couple of people in the thread say they havenโt received it either, suggesting it could be a targeted test or a gradual rollout. Let us know in the comments whether you can undo the skip and whether youโll find it personally useful.
