Dwyane Wade , a former NBA player, is aware that since the New York Knicks have been mediocre for so long, supporters have been waiting for a group to lead the team to triumph. This year’s roster has made the lifelong supporters proud of what the team has achieved.

The Knicks are two wins away from capturing the Larry O’Brien trophy. The last time New York won the NBA championship was in 1973. Since then, they’ve only been in the Finals three times and have not won it. This year, however, many believe that the team has a real shot against an inexperienced San Antonio Spurs team.

According to Dwyane Wade on Sunday’s episode of the “Wy Network,” the previous Knicks greats are the ones who deserve to experience the success.

“You know who deserves this?” Wade said. ” Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Willis Reed, Melo, Stephon Marbury, Latrell Sprewell, Larry Johnson , and so forth and so on. They will deserve this dawg, it ain’t just the players that’s playing. This is bigger.”

The Knicks have the whole of New York City behind them to show their support. On Monday, fans will witness the first NBA game at Madison Square Garden since 1999. It’s expected to be packed with supporters, celebrities and even politicians. President Donald Trump is set to appear in Game 3, and security is expected to be tighter. Trump was invited by team owner James Dolan, who is a close, long-time friend. Also, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani will attend the game.

Playing away from home, Dwyane Wade saw the Knicks win the first two Finals games. With the Spurs behind 2-0 in the series, pressure has begun to mount on Victor Wembanyama . Ahead of Game 3, Wade has started to demand more from the French basketball star.

“What Wemby’s done has been incredible. I need to see more. If you’re gonna win this championship…” Wade said. “We’re gonna have to see Wemby go to the level that we think Wemby can go to. He’s shown us he can… I knew the opportunity that was in front of me and I didn’t want the opportunity to pass me by, and so I end up discovering a player that I never had seen before. That guy who averaged 34.7 in the Finals, I never seen him before.”

Dwyane Wade knows what it takes to win championships, and wants to see Wembanyama become more aggressive and take the lead for San Antonio .
