Jabil adopts Siemens platform to cut factory setup time by 40%

Manufacturing giant Jabil is rolling out a single, cloud-based platform to connect its factories worldwide, aiming to cut costs and speed up response times as it scales AI across 100-plus plants.

The problem Jabil is solving is familiar to any large manufacturer: siloed systems, local spreadsheets, and manual processes that slow down data flow. With operations in 30 countries and clients like Apple and Tesla, Jabil can’t afford delays when machines break or orders change. A unified system means real-time data from every site, making it easier to predict maintenance needs and adjust production without relying on email chains or outdated dashboards.

The new platform, built with Siemens MindSphere, will replace dozens of legacy systems. Jabil says it has already cut setup time for new lines by 40% in pilot plants and reduced unplanned downtime by 15% at some sites. Engineers no longer have to log into multiple systems to check sensor readings or order parts. Instead, a single interface shows everything from temperature fluctuations to supplier delays. Early users report faster troubleshooting and fewer errors in order fulfillment.

Next, Jabil plans to layer AI models on top of this data backbone to automate quality checks and optimize energy use. The goal is to have every plant running the same software within two years, turning scattered data into a competitive edge. If it works, the model could spread to other industries where disconnected systems still slow down progress.
