Speaking in Anchorage, Alaska, Cook emphasized the current inflation levels are too high and that she views the risks associated with inflation as more pressing than those tied to employment. "I am prepared to act by raising rates, if necessary," she stated.

Cook's comments come amid a backdrop of ongoing economic uncertainty. The Federal Reserve recently voted 9-3 to maintain its benchmark borrowing rate between 3.5% and 3.75%. While Cook acknowledged that inflation seemed to ease in June, largely due to a decline in energy prices, she cautioned against drawing too many conclusions from a single data point.
