Andrew Purcell commits to Kentucky football

Andrew Purcell, Kentucky’s 2026 roster cornerback wearing No. 26, is in the spotlight as the Wildcats hit the recruiting trail hard for in-state talent. The rising junior from Louisville’s Trinity High School is one of the top 2026 defensive backs in the state, and his commitment would give Kentucky another local product to build around under first-year coach Mark Stoops.

This matters because Stoops has made recruiting closer to home a priority after years of chasing blue-chips from outside the region. If he picks Kentucky, he’d join a group that already includes another local standout, wide receiver London Humphries, in the 2026 class.

Purcell is expected to make his decision in the coming weeks. A commitment would send a strong message to other in-state prospects that Kentucky is serious about keeping talent at home. It could also give the Wildcats a much-needed edge in the recruiting battle with Louisville and Cincinnati.
