One of Google Health Premiumโs flagship perks is access to Google Health Coach, a Gemini-powered chatbot that can use your data stored in Google Health to try to answer questions and provide (technically non-medical advice) guidance. By default, Health Coach takes up a lot of space in Google Healthโs Today tab โ but as of the latest update, youโve now got the option to kick Coach out of Google Healthโs home screen.
As spotted by 9to5Google , version 5.06 of Google Health is rolling out now on Android and iOS. The main new bit in this version, according to a Googleโs blog post about the update , is a No Coach insights option, which removes Health Coachโs verbose guidance and insights from the appโs Today tab.
We saw evidence that this change was coming earlier this summer when we discovered strings in Google Health that referenced the new No Coach insights toggle.
The option to turn off these insights will be a considerable improvement for a lot of users. Android Authorityโ s Brady Snyder wrote up his experience with Google Health Premium and Health Coach last month, and he found that Coachโs questionably accurate insights actually made the Google Health app worse .
If youโre in the same boat, you can now switch off Health Coach on the Google Health appโs Today tab by tapping your profile picture, then Google Health settings , then Coach. There, you can select No Coach insights, which will remove Health Coach text from the appโs home screen. Youโll still be able to access Coach, it just wonโt insert itself into the Today tab.
Version 5.06 of Google Health is rolling out right now. You can grab it on the Play Store (or the App Store, on iOS).
