Google Maps tests feature to hide saved places for easier navigation

Google Maps is testing a new feature that lets users hide all their saved places from the map in one click. The option appears in the appโ€™s โ€œAll saved placesโ€ list, which is being added to version 26.33.00.961351034. When users tap the threeโ€‘dot menu next to the list, a โ€œHide on your mapโ€ button shows. A confirmation dialog pops up, and once the user taps the button, a toast message confirms the action. The same menu offers a โ€œShow on your mapโ€ option to unhide everything at once.

The move comes because many people keep dozens of places saved for future visits. These spots appear on the map as pins, and the current method requires hiding each list separately. That can clutter the screen and slow the app. By letting users toggle all saved places at once, Google aims to make the map cleaner and easier to read. The feature also includes a new Ask Maps button inside lists. Instead of typing the list name into Ask Maps, users can ask questions directly from the list, saving extra steps and reducing frustration.

Google hasnโ€™t announced a release date for the feature. It is still in a testing phase, and the company has not confirmed when it will become available to all users. The company is also experimenting with deeper Ask Maps integration for lists, which could improve how people interact with saved places. The new โ€œAll saved placesโ€ list and the Ask button are both part of the same update, suggesting Google is working to streamline the way users manage and query their saved locations.

If the feature proves popular, it could become a standard part of the Google Maps experience. A cleaner map view would benefit commuters and travelers alike, and the Ask Maps integration could make it easier to plan trips. Google has said it will keep users posted on any future changes. The testing period will help the company gauge how many users use the new options and whether it improves overall usability.
