In an effort to rebuild and bolster up their wide receiver room this offseason, the Chicago Bears added veteran Kalif Raymond , reuniting him with Ben Johnson after the two spent time together with the Detroit Lions .

Raymond comes into Chicago's receiver room looking to fill a void following the departures of veterans DJ Moore , Devin Duvernay , and Olamide Zaccheaus , leaving a much younger receiving core to lead the position group. Known for being a special teams ace, particularly on the punt return unit, Raymond could find himself with a bigger role in the passing game behind young receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III .

The familiarity that Raymond has with Johnson could lead to more unique opportunities for the veteran receiver, whether it be on special calls or just in unique ways that the Bears play caller can get him involved. This week at minicamp, Raymond offered up how he feels he will be able to contribute in Chicago's offense.

"I'm just trying to feed off them," Raymond said. "We have some guys here that can play some football. So, I'm just trying to feed off their juice, their work ethic. We're watching the way (WR) Rome (Odunze) works at the practice watching the way (WR) Luther (Burden III) runs his routes in practice. (TE) Colston (Loveland) the way he's toe-tapping, dragging, (RB) Kyle (Monangai), his run after catch even in seven on seven, this dude's putting on moves. So, I'm just trying to feed off those guys, learn how those guys play and be wherever they need me to be when it’s time for me to do that."

Raymond has an unique opportunity with the Bears, to not only be a contributor on special teams but to find his own role in the offense, while understanding what Johnson is looking to do for the offense as a whole. The veteran can serve as a team leader and voice in the locker room to keep the young Bears team on point, while quite possibly seeing more time on field with the offense than he had seen with the Lions in recent seasons.
