The New York Knicks could very well be without their backup center, Mitchell Robinson , for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Robinson, who suffered a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand —a broken right pinky finger – and underwent surgery, did not speak with the media on Tuesday.
While this is a discouraging sign, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Robinson plans to play in Game 1. The 28-year-old plans to wear a brace on his hand.
On Monday, head coach Mike Brown said that Robinson did individual work and is waiting for the team's medical staff to tell him what the next steps are.
“I did not even ask, and I try not to even look at him,” Brown continued. “I do know that the medical group has to tell me he can go out there for sure.”
Robinson has been crucial for the Knicks team as they sit four wins away from winning their first title in 53 years.
The Florida native has been instrumental with his exceptional rebounding, especially on the offensive end. In these playoffs, Robinson is averaging 2.0 offensive rebounds per game.
