Sony reissues WH-1000XM4 as XM4C for €250

Sony is bringing back its popular WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones with a new twist. Leaked details reveal the company plans to reissue the fan-favorite model under the name WH-1000XM4C, marking a rare revival of an older design. The announcement comes as Sony continues to dominate the premium wireless headphone market with its noise-canceling technology.

The revival follows years of demand from audiophiles who still consider the WH-1000XM4 a benchmark for wireless headphones. While Sony has since released newer models like the WH-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6, the WH-1000XM4 remains a favorite for its balance of performance and price. The reissue suggests Sony is targeting budget-conscious buyers who want premium features without the latest price tag.

According to leaked information, the WH-1000XM4C will keep the same core hardware, including the QN1 HD noise-canceling processor and multi-point audio support. However, it will offer slightly less battery life—34 hours instead of the original 38—and come in new colors like Silver/Platinum Silver, Lavender, and Black. The headphones are expected to launch on September 7 for €249.99 and £219.99, roughly $300, undercutting the original $349.99 launch price. For comparison, the newer WH-1000XM4 successor is currently available for under $250, raising questions about whether the price justifies a reissue rather than an upgrade.
