Michael Brennan takes co-lead into Wyndham final round

Michael Brennan moved into a share of the lead at the Wyndham Championship on Saturday, tying with Beau Hossler at nine-under par after the third round. The two will enter Sunday’s final round tied at the top of the leaderboard, setting up a potential playoff for Brennan’s first PGA Tour victory.

This surge comes just weeks after Brennan missed the FedEx Cup playoffs by a single stroke, leaving him on the outside looking in for the postseason. A strong finish at Sedgefield Country Club could launch his Ryder Cup hopes and lock in his card for 2025. Hossler, meanwhile, is playing the best golf of his career, with three top-10 finishes in his last five starts, including a win at the Barracuda Championship in July.

Brennan carded a 65 on Saturday, the lowest round of the day by two strokes, to erase a two-shot deficit. He birdied four of his last six holes, including a clutch 15-footer on the 17th to pull even. Hossler matched him with a 67, grinding out pars and finding key up-and-downs when needed. The pair now lead by two strokes over a chasing group that includes 2023 champion Adam Svensson and 2022 winner Kevin Kisner.

Sunday’s final round starts at 10:40 a.m. ET, with Brennan and Hossler drawing the final pairing. A win would give Brennan a two-year exemption and a shot at the Tour Championship. Even a runner-up finish could boost his standing enough to earn a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
