Xiaomiโs MiMoโV2.6 Pro model can generate a fully playable 3D game, such as a Prince of Persiaโstyle platformer, in a matter of minutes, the company announced on Tuesday at its Android Developers Conference in Shanghai. The openโsource AI runs on the companyโs latest Androidโbased hardware and outputs both game code and assets, letting users create a basic level with a single prompt.
The breakthrough comes as AIโgenerated content moves from text and images to interactive media. Earlier this year, OpenAIโs GPTโ4 and Anthropicโs Claude added limited codeโgeneration features, but they required extensive prompting and manual tweaking. Xiaomiโs model, trained on a mix of publicly available game engines, 3D asset libraries, and gameplay scripts, is designed to run on consumerโgrade devices, reflecting a broader push to democratise game development on Android. The MiMo series, first released in 2022, has been iteratively expanded, and the V2.6 Pro version doubles the parameter count of its predecessor, allowing it to understand spatial relationships and physics constraints better than earlier textโonly models.
Developers who tested the system reported that a simple requestโโCreate a sideโscrolling level with a knight, traps, and a boss fightโโproduced a Unity project folder with meshes, textures, animation rigs, and C# scripts ready to compile. Xiaomi said the model achieved a 92โฏ% success rate in generating functional code across 150 test scenarios, and the generated games run at 30โฏfps on its Mi 13 Ultra flagship. Industry analysts see the tool as a potential catalyst for indie creators, especially in markets where access to professional game engines is limited. Xiaomi also released the modelโs weights on GitHub under an Apache 2.0 license, inviting community contributions and custom fineโtuning.
The company plans to integrate MiMoโV2.6 Pro into Android Studio later this year, offering a โGenerate Gameโ wizard that will automate asset creation for developers of all skill levels. Xiaomi has opened a beta program for studios to test the model in commercial projects, and it expects the technology to reduce development costs and timeโtoโmarket for mobile games. If the tool lives up to its early promise, it could reshape how Android games are built, putting AIโdriven prototyping alongside traditional coding as a standard part of the development workflow.
