NASAโ€™s new streaming service, NASA+, will launch on Discovery+ and HBO Max, the agency announced Monday, giving millions more viewers access to live rocket launches, documentaries and special missions like Artemis III.

The move follows NASAโ€™s push to make space exploration more visible to the public. NASA+ launched last year as a free, ad-free platform with live feeds from the International Space Station, live rocket launches and original shows like *The Color of Space* and *Mars* documentaries. Discovery+ already carries some live NASA feeds, and this expansion formalizes that partnership while adding HBO Max as a destination for major events. HBO Max will host NASAโ€™s flagship moments, such as the Artemis III Moon landing scheduled for 2027, giving subscribers exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage and expert commentary.

The expansion comes as NASA ramps up its Artemis program, aiming to return humans to the Moon by 2026 and establish a sustainable base there. NASA has been steadily increasing its digital presence, streaming launches on YouTube, Twitch and its own app, but partnering with major streaming platforms reflects a shift in how agencies communicate with the public. Discovery+ already reaches about 22 million subscribers in the U.S., while HBO Max has over 47 million. NASA says the goal is to reach younger, more diverse audiences who consume content primarily through streaming.

What happens next could reshape how space agencies share their work. NASA+ plans to add more live feeds, including Earth observation data and astronaut activities. The agency is also exploring partnerships with international platforms to reach global audiences. For viewers, it means easier access to space without leaving their favorite apps. For NASA, itโ€™s a bet that storytelling through streaming will inspire the next generation of scientistsโ€”and keep public interest alive as missions grow more ambitious.
