From an Aug. 3 filing, Director George W. Cummings III now has 10,000 fewer shares.
The majority of the shares connected to Cummins III involve direct ownership, but there are 3,911 shares still held by his spouse.
Cummings III still has direct ownership of 211,180 shares, so the sale was just a small fraction of his total direct, indirect, and derivative holdings.
George W. Cummings III, Director at Business First Bancshares (NASDAQ:BFST) , sold 10,000 shares of common stock on Aug. 3, 2026, according to a recent SEC Form 4 filing .
Transaction value based on SEC Form 4 weighted average sale price ($31.87); post-transaction value based on Aug. 3, 2026, market close ($31.92).
Business First Bancshares operates as a regional bank holding company with $1.0 billion in market capitalization and $334 million in TTM revenue, demonstrating solid profitability with $85.5 million in TTM net income. The company maintains a competitive position within the regional banking sector through its diversified product offerings and community-focused banking model, operating from its Baton Rouge headquarters.
Cummings III was originally part of another company that Business First Bancshares acquired; that company will be discussed shortly. He sold his shares after a relatively strong performance at Business First Bancshares, with the stock price climbing 24.6% from Jan. 2 to Aug. 3. With a share sale, you'll sometimes see a spouse or a foundation sell shares as well. With this transaction, however, it was just Cummings III selling his shares, while his spouse maintained their 3,911 shares. That would just suggest this is a bit of profit-taking after a strong run at a new company he's joined, and that he still believes in Business First Bancshares, as he still owns 211,180 shares directly and his spouse didnโt sell.
The bank continues to expand its reach, closing its acquisition of Progressive Bancorp in January, where Cummins III was previously the CEO and then joined Business First as a Director. That acquisition added nine more locations in North Louisiana to Business First. At the time of the acquisition closing, the transaction bolstered the companyโs assets to $8.7 billion. It also acquired the financial consulting firm American Planning, furthering its ability to serve its financial services group clients nationwide.
