Packers donate helmets to 10 Wisconsin high school football programs

The Green Bay Packers are giving back to Wisconsin high school football teams.

Last month, offensive lineman Darian Kinnard made a surprise visit to Weyauwega-Fremont High School (Weyauwega, Wisconsin) for a youth football skills day. The players were also treated to a surprise new helmet reveal, with the Packers donating $7,500 worth of brand-new helmets for their football program.

According to a news release from the Packers , the helmets are Packers Helmet Give Back Program, "a component of the Packers' football outreach efforts through Packers Give Back."

In total, nine additional Wisconsin high school football programs were also awarded $7,500 worth of helmets to package this summer to supplement or replace their existing equipment inventory.

Those programs include: Abundant Life Christian School (Madison, Wisc.), Arcadia, Hillsboro, Milwaukee School of Languages, Peshtigo, Reedsburg, Stanley-Boyd (Stanley, Wisc.), Tomahawk and Waupun.

"We're proud to partner with Ticketmaster and Certor Sports to provide new helmets to 10 Wisconsin high school football programs," Ryan Fencl, Packers football outreach manager, said. "Player safety is a priority, and this donation ensures that athletes competing for the recipient programs have the necessary equipment to safely take the field and pursue their dreams."

Last fall, coaches and athletic directors from across the state were invited to apply for the new helmets. Green Bay partnered with Ticketmaster and Certor Sports to make the donations to the local high schools.
