Phoebe Bridgers cast in A24's *Primetime* with Robert Pattinson

Phoebe Bridgers is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming A24 drama *Primetime*, joining Robert Pattinson in a film inspired by NBC’s *To Catch a Predator*.

The indie star and Boygenius frontwoman will take on an undisclosed role in the drama, which follows the rise of *Dateline*’s controversial series fronted by Chris Hansen. Pattinson will play Hansen, the journalist who confronted child predators in staged stings, with Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Bokeem Woodbine also starring. Scheduled for a September 25 release, *Primetime* marks Lance Oppenheim’s second feature film and A24’s latest foray into socially charged storytelling.

Bridgers’ leap into acting coincides with the rollout of her highly anticipated third solo album, *Lost Weekend*, out August 14 via Dead Oceans. The record, her first since 2020’s *Punisher*, arrives with lead single “Lost Boys” already generating buzz. The tracklist includes contributions from bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, as well as Christian Lee Hutson, Jack Antonoff, and an anonymous guest credited as “Son-John Johnson”—widely speculated to be Geese’s Cameron Winter. Bridgers has also teased a planetarium listening event with custom visuals, an exclusive Spotify preview for top fans in New Jersey, and over 300 global midnight release parties on August 13.

The film and album drop land amid Bridgers’ return to live performance. After a three-year hiatus, she played her first solo show in Roswell, New Mexico, debuting new material, and she’ll soon headline a North American tour with Alex G supporting. European dates with Isaac Wood follow, all under a “no phones” rule requiring fans to lock away devices. With *Lost Weekend* poised to dominate the late-summer music cycle and *Primetime* offering her first on-screen role, Bridgers is expanding her reach beyond music into film and fan experiences.
