Key Points Reddit has achieved positive net income and strong revenue growth through advertising and data licensing. Snowflake maintains a dominant position in the enterprise data cloud market with high free cash flow. Which high-growth tech stock is the better choice for your portfolio today? 10 stocks we like better than Reddit โ€บ As the digital economy evolves, investors are weighing the viral community growth of Reddit (NYSE:RDDT) against the enterprise data power of Snowflake (NYSE:SNOW) to determine which offers better long-term potential. Reddit manages a vast network of user-governed online communities that attract millions of daily visitors, while Snowflake provides a specialized cloud platform for large-scale data analytics and storage. Both companies are high-growth players in the technology space, but they operate at different stages of profitability and cater to very different types of customers. The case for Reddit Reddit is a unique player among communication stocks , operating a community-based platform where users create and curate content. The company generates nearly all its revenue from advertising services and is recently expanding into licensing its data for artificial intelligence training. Customer concentration like this adds a layer of risk to the business, as the top ten largest advertisers accounted for 21% of total revenue. In the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2025, revenue reached $2.2 billion, representing a year over year increase of 69.4%. Reddit also achieved profitability during this period, reporting net income of $529.7 million. This result was a significant improvement compared with the prior fiscal year when the company reported a substantial net loss. As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the current ratio, which compares a company's current assets to its current liabilities, stands at a robust 11.6x. The debt-to-equity ratio, which measures total debt relative to shareholder equity, is zero. Free cash flow, or the cash left over after capital expenditures, reached $684.2 million, though note that stock-based compensation represented 49.7% of operating cash flow, which inflates reported cash generation. The case for Snowflake Snowflake sells access to its AI Data Cloud, which helps large organizations store and analyze massive amounts of information. It uses a consumption-based model where customers pay for the resources they actually use rather than a flat monthly fee. The company serves 13,328 total customers, including 790 of the Forbes Global 2000, and maintains strategic partnerships with major cloud providers, including Amazon . In the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2026, revenue reached $4.7 billion, a growth of 29.2% year over year. Despite the high revenue expansion, the company reported a net loss of $1.3 billion for the period. This net loss resulted in a negative net margin of 28.4%, which measures how much profit or loss is generated from total sales. As of its January 2026 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is 1.4x, and the current ratio is 1.3x. Free cash flow remained strong at $1.1 billion for the fiscal year. However, note that stock-based compensation represented 130.9% of operating cash flow, meaning reported cash generation is heavily inflated by this non-cash add-back. Risk profile comparison Reddit faces intense competition for user engagement and advertising spend from established platforms such as Alphabet . The business is highly dependent on its ability to grow daily active users and maintain the participation of volunteer moderators. Furthermore, a multi-class stock structure concentrates voting control among early investors and executives, limiting the influence of everyday shareholders. Snowflake operates in a rapidly changing market where it must innovate to support new technologies like artificial intelligence. It faces significant competition from cloud giants, including Amazon and Alphabet. Risks also include potential security incidents and volatility in its consumption-based revenue model, alongside ongoing federal securities class action lawsuits regarding its financial disclosures. Valuation comparison Reddit currently appears to be the more affordable option when comparing both future earnings estimates and revenue multiples for both companies. Metric Reddit Snowflake Forward P/E 30.1x 174.6x P/S ratio 13.8x 25.0x Valuation metrics sourced from Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) and may differ from other data providers. Which stock would I buy in 2026? While Reddit is a social media giant and Snowflake is a cloud-based data platform specialist, the two companies have several traits in common. Both operate successful technology platforms, sport high-growth stocks, and are benefiting from the massive tailwind of artificial intelligence. Choosing between them is not easy, as each possess unique strengths and risks. Snowflake's sales growth is tied directly to AI, since artificial intelligence cannot operate without data. The company's 33% year-over-year growth to $1.4 billion in its fiscal first quarter, ended April 30, demonstrates the strong demand for its data platform. However, Snowflake remains deeply unprofitable with a fiscal Q1 net loss of $295.6 million. Although Reddit's revenue is produced primarily from digital advertising, it also has a data licensing business that it generates income from as AI companies pay for the info needed to enhance their models. This is part of its "other" revenue category, which saw 24% year-over-year growth to $43 million in Q2. Overall, its Q2 sales rose 61% year-over-year to $805 million. This substantial revenue growth and its lower share price valuation are reasons why I believe Reddit is the better stock to buy in 2026. There is risk in that it relies heavily on Alphabet-owned Google's search engine for consumer traffic to its website, but Google has leveraged Reddit data for its AI, and that suggests the social media company's future remains secure.
