St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher and former Boston Red Sox hurler Dustin May spent the first five-plus seasons of his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers .

Now, the 28-year-old right-hander is reportedly likely to join his third different team in the last year.

"The Cardinals, in fact, are expected to trade reliever JoJo Romero and starter Dustin May at the trade deadline, providing they slip further back in the wild-card race," USA Today's MLB insider Bob Nightengale wrote on Sunday .

The Dodgers selected May in the third round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft and he made his big league debut in August 2019.

May won a World Series ring with Los Angeles in 2020 and was acquired by the Red Sox at the 2025 trade deadline.

He went 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA in six games (five starts) during his stay in Boston before signing with St. Louis in December.

May is 3-6 with a 4.59 ERA and 60 strikeouts across 66 2/3 innings pitched covering 12 starts in 2026. He had one of the best starts of his career on May 27 against the Milwaukee Brewers , flirting with a no-hitter and finishing with two runs allowed (one earned) on two hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in seven-plus innings.
