Trent Rockets need a helping hand from Manchester Super Giants to stay in the Hunt for Sunday’s final after their six-game winning streak was ended by Southern Brave at Trent Bridge.

The loss leaves the Rockets in a must-win situation if they are to avoid elimination from the Eliminator stage of The Hundred. Southern Brave’s 10-run victory handed them a crucial boost, while Trent’s hopes now hinge on results elsewhere. The Rockets must now wait to see if Super Giants can beat Oval Invincibles — a result that would keep Trent’s campaign alive.

Sunday’s game is a knockout clash that decides who advances to the final. If Super Giants beat Invincibles, Trent Rockets will progress. If not, they’ll be out. The Rockets’ form had been strong, but Brave’s bowlers held their nerve in a tight finish. Star player Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 43 off 28 balls, but it wasn’t enough as Brave’s total of 138 for 5 saw them home.

The next few hours will decide Trent’s fate. If they make it through, they’ll face either Brave or Invincibles in a winner-takes-all semi-final. If they fall short, their summer will end with defeat and a place in the bottom half of the table. The pressure is on Super Giants now, but their captain, Jos Buttler, has the experience to guide them over the line. One win stands between Trent and elimination — and it’s not even in their hands.
