Scottie Scheffler won the St Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday, finishing with a final-round score of 4-under-par 66. His impressive performance allowed him to secure the tournament by eight strokes, solidifying his position at the top of the FedEx Cup playoffs. This victory marks Scheffler’s first win since January, ending a series of near misses throughout the year.

The St Jude Championship serves as the opening event of the FedEx Cup playoffs, making this win crucial for Scheffler as he aims to extend his lead in the standings. After expressing frustration over his previous performances, he highlighted this victory as a turning point, saying, “I felt like a week like this was coming.” His strong showing in Memphis showcased his resilience and skill, as he previously felt he was close to winning, even if the results didn't reflect it.

Scheffler finished the tournament with an overall score of 17-under 263, leaving runner-up Si Woo Kim trailing with a score of 9-under 271. His margin of victory is the second-largest in the tournament's history over the past 30 years and the largest at TPC Southwind. Throughout the final round, Scheffler’s performance was marked by key birdies on the 11th, 13th, and 16th holes, which expanded his lead from two strokes to five midway through the round.

Next, Scheffler will compete in the BMW Championship in St. Louis, Missouri, where he is the defending champion. This upcoming tournament will be a critical opportunity for him to maintain his momentum in the playoffs and further secure his position as the world’s top golfer. With the confidence gained from this latest victory, Scheffler is well-positioned to contend once again.
