Silver ( SI=F ) July futures opened at $75.10 per ounce on Tuesday, 0.2% lower than Mondayโs closing price, but higher than yesterdayโs open. The price of silver moved up in early trading, moving to $76.71 per ounce by 8:36 a.m. ET.
Prices of both silver and gold have behaved similarly over the last few days. Both seem to be in a holding pattern, as investors are waiting for news out of the Middle East to meaningfully push prices in either direction. Even the recent fighting between Israel and Hezbollah hasnโt prompted major price swings in precious metals.
The latest developments in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran center on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and an extended ceasefire. But as of this morning, no major agreement has been reached.
Over the last five days, the price of silver is up 0.52%, according to Yahoo Finance.
