There have been so many Reddit threads and comments in the past week alone highlighting the community’s widespread frustration with Spotify on Android. Multiple threads are calling out frozen playback screens, delayed button inputs, and endless loading spinners. Users report that basic interactions. such as pausing a track, switching playlists, or opening the Now Playing screen, frequently lag or crash the application altogether.

For many paying $12.99 per month for Spotify Premium, the persistent inability to play music reliably on their phones feels like a major step backward for a service that dominates the audio streaming market.

The issues aren’t entirely new for this week, but the lack of progress is what is frustrating long-time listeners. Spotify previously acknowledged the performance degradation on Android in an official Community Forum thread, noting it is under ongoing investigation. For now, Android users are left with stopgap temporary solutions like force-stopping the app and clearing cache files, while they wait for Spotify to deliver the stability fixes they are paying for.
