Taylor Farms recalls 26 salsa, guacamole products nationwide

Taylor Farms is recalling 26 packaged salsa and guacamole products over fears they may be contaminated with salmonella. The recall covers items sold in multiple states under store brands including HEB, Kroger, and Walmart. The announcement late Sunday on the Food and Drug Administration website warns consumers to avoid the products and return them for a refund.

The outbreak involves 10 reported illnesses across four states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Health officials traced the source to fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Food Products in California. The company has not issued its own recall but is cooperating with investigators. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, and stomach cramps within hours or days of exposure.

The recalled products were sold in stores from April 10 to April 24. Taylor Farms says it has stopped production and distribution of the affected batches. The FDA is urging consumers to check their refrigerators and discard any recalled items. No deaths have been reported, but the CDC continues to monitor cases.
