Silicon Valley startup Comu has launched its latest device, the Comu Action Pro, designed to streamline the process of capturing and converting meeting discussions into actionable tasks. Officially unveiled this week, the gadget aims to simplify the often clunky process of using smartphones for voice recording and AI dictation during in-person meetings.
The Action Pro represents a shift from passive audio recording to active task execution, allowing users to quickly transform conversations into finished work. With an emphasis on face-to-face interactions, the device features a six-microphone adaptive array and AI noise reduction technology, making it capable of capturing clear audio in multi-speaker environments. This comes as a response to the common frustrations with using smartphones for dictation, which can involve several cumbersome steps, from recording to exporting files and managing interruptions.
In contrast to existing products in the market, such as those from Plaud and Fieldy, which either focus on dedicated hardware or wearable technology, Comu's Action Pro targets what it calls โThe 30 Minutes After.โ This refers to the time spent drafting follow-up emails or organizing meeting notes after discussions. The device includes a physical AI button for voice interactions, enabling users to request specific deliverables, such as generating presentation slides from brainstorming sessions, with the companion app selecting the appropriate AI model for the task.
Comu has ensured that the Action Pro meets important security standards, including GDPR and HIPAA, allowing for real-time translation and transcription across more than 113 languages. However, users must still obtain consent from all meeting participants before recording, regardless of whether they use dedicated hardware or smartphones. The launch of the Action Pro could reshape how professionals handle meeting notes and tasks, potentially enhancing productivity and reducing the time spent on administrative follow-up.
