Florida basketball has offered No. 16 overall prospect in the 2027 class, five-star junior Cayden Daughtry, intensifying recruitment efforts for one of the most coveted guards in the nation.
A premier perimeter player in the cycle, Daughtry is a Sunshine State native and student at Calvary Christian Academy, where he has emerged as one of the fastest rising players on the trail. After a dominant 2025 season that saw Daughtry win the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year award, buzz around the Fort Lauderdale resident's pro potential grew louder.
Other high school basketball standouts to win the award include Duke star forward Cameron Boozer, NBA champion Jayson Tatum, and Pistons all-star Jalen Duren.
The 6-foot, 160-pound guard led Calvary Christian to a second consecutive state championship while averaging 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. Florida joins a list of contenders pursuing the blue-chip playmaker, among them Kentucky , Michigan , Miami, Ohio State and Texas A&M .
Daughtry is the No. 16 overall recruit and No. 4 at his position according to the 247Sports composite , while the On3 industry rankings have him at Nos. 15 and No. 4, respectively. The guard has 26 offers, including five SEC programs: Ole Miss, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
The Hurricanes currently own the best odds to sign Daughtry at 22.2%, according to On3's recruiting prediction machine, followed by the Wolverines at 19.4%. The Gators land third in the order, with a 2.8% chance of signing the in-state prospect.
