Treasury yields closed slightly lower on Wednesday, following a volatile trading day that left bond prices near unchanged levels. The yield on the benchmark ten-year note dropped by 1.0 basis points to 4.617 percent. This marks the third consecutive day of declines for the ten-year yield, which had reached its highest closing level since early 2025 just last Friday.

The fluctuation in Treasury yields comes amid rising uncertainties regarding geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Traders are cautious as the situation evolves, contributing to erratic trading patterns in crude oil futures. After a sharp decline of over 10 percent in the preceding sessions, crude oil prices have continued to dip, although the downward pressure has not intensified significantly.

In related economic news, private sector employment growth in the U.S. was below expectations for July. According to a report from payroll processor ADP, private sector jobs increased by 44,000 last month, a stark contrast to the anticipated growth of 75,000. Additionally, Juneโ€™s job gains were revised down to 95,000 from an earlier estimate of 98,000. These figures may signal a cooling labor market, raising concerns about economic momentum.

Looking ahead, traders are likely to remain vigilant, particularly regarding potential developments in the Middle East and their implications for oil markets. The ongoing discussions around reopening the Strait of Hormuz, led by the Trump administration, could influence market sentiment in the coming days. With employment data also showing signs of weakness, market participants will be closely monitoring economic indicators for further insights into the health of the U.S. economy.
