President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to a historic low, with only 33 percent of Americans expressing satisfaction with his job performance according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. This figure matches the lowest approval rating of his presidency, previously recorded in December 2017. The poll reflects widespread dissatisfaction, as 64 percent of respondents disapprove of Trump's handling of his duties.

This decline in popularity comes as the ongoing U.S. military involvement in Iran raises concerns among the American public. Since the conflict began in February, fuel prices have surged nearly 30 percent, significantly impacting consumers. Many Americans are feeling the pinch at the gas pump, which is further exacerbating concerns about inflation and economic stability. Trump, who promised to manage inflation and avoid prolonged military engagements, initially suggested the conflict would be brief but has faced criticism as the situation continues without resolution.

Public sentiment surrounding the war is stark. Approximately 80 percent of Americans believe U.S. involvement in Iran will last for an extended period, including 87 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Republicans. Only 16 percent expect the conflict to end soon. At a recent rally, Trump downplayed the economic impact, asserting that paying slightly more for gasoline is justified to deter what he described as "a very evil country" from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Notably, support for the war appears to be waning even among Trumpโ€™s core supporters. A Politico poll indicated that only a third of self-identified MAGA voters view the economic costs of the conflict as acceptable. As dissatisfaction grows among various segments of the electorate, including his own base, Trump's ability to navigate these challenges may prove crucial as he prepares for the upcoming election cycle.
