He's the son of a former Pro Bowl, All-Pro, Super Bowl champion from the Green Bay Packers.
Freeman, though, is a star soccer player, seizing hold of the starting right back spot for the United States heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is co-hosted by the U.S.
It's likely that Freeman will play most of the minutes for the USMNT , but his genes have big-game experience in them already -- just not on this stage, but instead on the biggest stage there is in the NFL.
Alex Freeman's dad is Antonio Freeman, the former NFL wide receiver.
Antonio played eight of his nine NFL seasons with the Packers, and he had three seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards, and two with double-digit touchdowns.
Alex had this to say about his father's initial soccer knowledge in a funny quote to ESPN :
"My dad didn't know anything about soccer. He's just kind of learned as I've gone on, and it's been good to know that he's had an interest in wanting to learn more about the sport as I've gone on."
