If you have ever wished Google Search could give your favorite creators or publishers something closer to a social media profile, Google is getting there. The company launched Search profiles in June , giving eligible publishers and creators a dedicated space to bring their websites, social accounts, videos, and posts together. Now, Google is making those profiles considerably easier to get.

Google’s Search profiles initially required a sizable following: 100,000 followers on YouTube, Instagram, or X, or 300,000 on TikTok. Google has now lowered those thresholds to 35,000 for YouTube, Instagram, and X, while TikTok’s requirement drops to 100,000 followers.

That’s a substantial reduction, particularly for smaller creators and publishers who have built meaningful audiences without reaching six-figure follower counts. According to Robby Stein (via X ), VP of Product at Google Search, the change is intended to allow more creators and publishers to set up Search profiles. The company also says it plans to expand the feature to additional countries, although it hasn’t provided a specific timeline.

Google’s public Search profile support page already lists the new follower requirements, but says the feature is currently available only in the US. That suggests the documentation is catching up with the latest changes.

In fact, the actual rollout appears to be moving ahead of the documentation. Reports on X from the past few weeks indicate that Search profiles have surfaced for creators and publishers in Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and France. French publication Reporterre, for example, has already customized its profile, including links. A Japanese user on X has also shared that a localized Japanese version of the setup screen already exists, suggesting Japan could be among the next markets to get access.

For creators who are already eligible, a profile may have been generated automatically if you have a Knowledge Panel. Otherwise, you can claim one through Google’s Search Profile page . Once claimed, the profile can bring together social accounts, websites, recent posts, videos, and other links.

And Google isn’t stopping here. Robby Stein says there’s “more to come” as the company continues working on ways to help creators connect with audiences through Search. But for now, the lowered thresholds are the biggest change, because they make Search profiles far more attractive to creators who previously couldn’t get through the door.
