The iPhone is expected to see a radical shakeup this year, with Apple’s first-ever foldable likely to be revealed during the fall event next month. However, the company will reach a bigger milestone in 2027, marking 20 years since the first iPhone was revealed in 2007. A new leak is giving us our first potential look at the next-gen iPhone model Apple could introduce to celebrate.

Leaker Yogesh Brar shares a couple of images on X that appear to show the 20th anniversary iPhone from multiple angles, including a clear view of its sides. It also appears to show a quad curved display on the front and a similarly curved glass on the rear panel. The images reveal dual rear cameras positioned horizontally, rather than vertically as on the iPhone 17. But for as interesting as all that is, it’s also hard to ignore some of the discrepancies in this particular leak.

The image above, seemingly depicting the front and back profiles of the 20th anniversary iPhone model, appears to be missing the Camera Control button , which is typically placed on the right side of the iPhone, sitting some distance below the power button.

Meanwhile, the second set of supposed 20th anniversary iPhone renders shows a randomly placed key on the left-hand side of the device, with no volume rocker or the Action button visible. These mismatches might suggest that some form of generative AI tool was used to make these images, potentially using a simple description from supply chain sources, though we cannot independently confirm this.

Another notable aspect of these leaked images is the front camera. Per these images, Apple may ditch the Dynamic Island altogether and use a more conventional hole-punch front camera instead. It’s unclear where the sensors for Apple’s Face ID tech will be positioned, however.

Given how essential Dynamic Island is for the iPhone, we would be surprised if Apple took this step. However, if the company does go in that direction and adopts a hole-punch selfie camera, it would be borrowing a common design attribute from Android phones .

Given some of the inconsistencies we mentioned above, we’d recommend taking this leak with a grain of salt. Hopefully, we’ll get a better idea of the 20th anniversary iPhone model as we head into 2027. For now, Apple’s focus will be firmly on next month’s iPhone 18 launch event, which should also play host to the iPhone Ultra foldable.
