Deluxe Media Inc. and Tokyoโbased Tohokushinsha Film Corporation announced a strategic partnership today to broaden localization services across the AsiaโPacific region. The nonโexclusive deal links Deluxeโs global network of studios and streamers with its largeโscale, techโdriven workflows, and Tohokushinshaโs longโstanding creative and market expertise in Japan. The alliance aims to deliver faster, higherโquality subtitles, dubbing and cultural adaptation for content that will be streamed in dozens of countries.
The move comes as demand for localised content spikes. Streaming giants are investing heavily in regional programming to win subscribers in AsiaโPacific markets. Deluxe has built a reputation for handling large volumes of content for major studios, while Tohokushinsha has been a key player in Japanโs film and TV industry for over 50 years. Together, the two companies can combine Deluxeโs automation tools with Tohokushinshaโs onโtheโground knowledge, reducing turnaround times and cutting costs for producers and distributors.
Under the agreement, Deluxe will supply its advanced workflow platform and distribution network, while Tohokushinsha will provide voice talent, cultural consultants and local marketing support. The partnership will target key markets such as China, South Korea, India and Southeast Asia, where localised content is essential for audience growth. Early indications suggest the collaboration could enable the delivery of subtitles and dubs in 30 languages within 48 hours of a filmโs release, a significant improvement over the industry norm of 5โ10 days.
The partnership signals a broader trend of consolidation in the localisation sector. By combining technology and local expertise, the two firms hope to set a new standard for speed and quality. If successful, the model could attract other studios and distributors looking to expand into the fastโgrowing AsiaโPacific market, potentially reshaping how global content is adapted for regional audiences.
