In 2026, researchers announced a breakthrough in graphene fiber production that could revolutionise heat management in electronics and aerospace, following a 15โyear research path that began with a 2011 discovery of graphene oxide liquid crystals at Koreaโs KAIST. The new fibers combine the strength of carbon nanotubes with a thermal conductivity that rivals copper, making them attractive for cooling highโperformance chips and for use in lightweight aircraft panels.
